Marfa, Texas.
See below for links to hotels and NYT's stories about the area. The pictures here show the recently restored Presidio County Courthouse, the view from the top of the courthouse; magic hour in Marfa when the train runs through, and the (still functioning) Godbold structure. Stay tuned for the final update of images from (hopefully) Donald Judd's Chinati Foundation . . . .

Las Vegas, New Mexico
The Castenada Hotel was an original Fred Harvey Hotel sitting right off the train tracks. It's been empty for a while but actually looks to be in pretty good condition. One section is currently used as a bar. The building facades shown here are opposite the hotel. Click here for archival pics of the interior of the hotel

Cloudcroft - home away from home to harley-riding horse dealers, and Conrad Hilton in the 1930's (when he owned it). Built as weekend resort for the workman on the Santa Fe Railroad in 1909. Actually, atthat time it was rebuilt after a fire burned down the original structure. . . . .fascinating

One of the pics that seemed to have gotten lost when I sent it originally . . .

Carrizozo - as good as it's ever looked!
Making efforts to be the next Marfa maybe . . . .

In and around Balmorhea State Park. Flatlands of West Texas near Davis Mountains. The pool was built in the 1930's (maybe as a WPA project?) to take advantage of the San Solomon Springs (72 degrees year round)
