After I attacked the yard with the weed whacker, hung the curtains, potted the Golden Barrel cactus this were looking pretty tidy. Next up is new solid front doors and also screen doors.

Bed (built by neighbor Ron on my first night) and bathroom doorway. . .the actual door is inexplicably laying in the backyard. . .Sheet is filling the role of door for now. . . .

My "office"! Better to look out my little window than the back of Liz's head. Best to work in the morning as this window faces due west . . .situation will be solved once awning is built. Note also, beautifully sealed concrete floors with authentic patina!

Kitchen table and rocking chair. . .painted to match! This is the window on the right when you're standing on the street.

My closet! . . . right behind the front door (the one on the left when you're looking from the street). A couple of vintage shelf brackets that I can hang things from and an old milk crate to throw shoes in, which was actually on the property when I first arrived.

Some of the plants I bought: Barrel cactus; Sotal;; Horse Crippler; Yuccas . . .

The day I arrived my little house on the prairie was a little over run after weeks of rain. I had loaded up in El Paso with a load of cactus.

Little House on the (Marfa) Prairie became mine May 30. This is what it looked like. Stay tuned for renovation posts. So far concrete floors have been sealed, weed trees pulled out with a back-hoe and a few agave, ocatillos and prickly pear have been planted. Lots more landscaping to come, so no smart comments please!
